The Teacher Aide is responsible in assisting the Teacher and Center Supervisor in
carrying out the classroom activities and component plans. Must work closely with
parents and families to secure the needs of the children in the classroom.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide a safe environment to prevent and reduce injuries.
2. Promote good health and nutrition.
3. Provide materials and resources for children by constructing an interesting and
enjoyable environment that encourages exploration and learning.
4. Provide equipment, activities, and opportunities for the children to promote
physical development.
5. Provide activities and experience that develop questioning, probing, and problem
solving that is appropriate to the developmental levels of the children.
6. Provide opportunities for children to understand, acquire, and use verbal and
non-verbal communication to convey their thoughts and feelings.
7. Provide experiences that stimulate children to explore and express their creative
abilities. L Help children know, accept, and take pride in his/herself, and develop a sense of
independence. L Help children learn to get along with others and encourage feelings of empathy
and mutual respect among children and adults.
10. Provide an environment in which children can lean and practice behaviors, which
are appropriate and acceptable individually and in a group.
11. Maintain an open, friendly and informative relationship with children's families,
and encourages their participation in the Head Start curriculum and program.
12.8e a competent organizer, planner, and record keeper by keeping all lesion
plans, child observations, and reports up to date and handed in on time.
13. Take advantage of opportunities improve your competence, both for professional
growth and for the benefit of the children and families our program serves.
14. Must participate in the professional career development program and sign
agreements when applicable.
15. Must attend parent meetings monthly and when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
2. Must be willing to obtain a Child Development Associates (CDA) within in one
year of hire.
3. Applicant meeting the requirements will be interviewed by the Policy Council and
Director.
4. Must complete an annual physical & TB skin test prior to employment.
5. Applicant must sign the necessary papenruork to permit a background check at
the tribal level and state level.
6. Applicant has never been convicted of Child Abuse/Neglect or any violent crimes.
7. Must complete CPR & First Aide training within (90) days of hire.
8. Must have a vehicle and a valid driver's license, with appropriate insurance and
be willing to travel to Head Start Centers and communities.
9. Must sign confidentiality agreement.
10. Must sign and follow Head Start standards of conduct.

Yates, ND. The incumbent will work under the direct Supervision of the Center
Supervisor.
