JOB DESCRIPTION

Subject to the Principal’s delegation and oversight, the Associate Principal (“the AP”) shall direct and manage the day-to-day school operations of ICS in accordance with ICS’s Mission, Vision, Core Values and Strategic Plan. The AP will perform the responsibilities of the position with adherence to and implementation of an academic and affective fabric that incorporates traditional American Indian culture, spirituality, practices, philosophies, ceremonies and teachings into every aspect of curricula. The AP shall perform all of the duties and exercise the authority usually incident to the positions of AP as well as other duties which may be assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Monitors and assesses student achievement data and incorporates relevant findings into instructional plan.
• Develops and implements achievement intervention plans.
• Performs internal and external academic research.
• Articulates and instills high expectations for excellent teaching and student achievement.
• Successfully incorporates American Indian culture, spirituality, language, traditions, philosophies and values into all aspects of curriculum and institutional practices.
• Timely acquires necessary curricular items and educational supplies and maintains inventory control and compliance with requisition process.
• Coordinates and implements professional development and in-service trainings that meet the School’s strategic goals and accreditation requirements.
• Maintains understanding of educational best practices, legal requirements, state standards and adherence to institutional policies.
• Performs evaluations of professional and paraprofessional educational staff, including instructional support personnel.
• Prepare teacher improvement plans and implements the same.
• Ensures compliance with lesson planning and related technology.
• Involves parents and staff in remediating issues concerning academic underperformance, behavior problems and attendance issues.
• Supervises: Educational programming, Student transportation, Food Service, Facilities, Information Technology and Human Resources.
• Prepares written reports to the Board of Directors and other entities, as required. Attends meetings of the Board, its committees, Parent Groups, and other school related functions.
• Directs preparation of class schedules, the school-wide calendar, student supervision schedules, and student extended day activities for each new school year.
• Develops and implements culturally based strategies that effectively cause students to manage their behaviors within expectations.
• Assist with the annual revision of the ICS Parent/Student Handbook.
• Directs emergency planning and coordination for fire, tornado, lockdown, injury, illness, etc.
• Develops the budgets for departments supervised by Educational Administration.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a current Wisconsin Principal’s license. Three years Associate Principal experience and knowledge of Native American culture preferred.
