Job Purpose
This position exists to focus on developing expertise in corporate, corporate foundation fundraising. The incumbent will identify champion support and align donor strategy with charitable giving opportunities to meet individual revenue goal. The development officer will have the necessary skills to independently manage a fundraising portfolio and reach fundraising expectations as set by director.
Job Context
This position builds relationships for the purpose of raising funds, allowing the American Indian College Fund to accomplish its mission and strategies.
An incumbent in this position must share the Fund’s core values and passions for American Indian education to convey the need to current and prospective donors. It is important for the incumbent to be compassionate, positive, knowledgeable and a team player to successfully steward donors and create meaningful relationships that result in long-term giving, retention of donors and upgrades.
Job Responsibilities
1. Builds and maintains relationships with donors and prospects in portfolio.
a. Requests meetings with donors and prospects in portfolio.
b. Makes presentations about the College Fund, it’s mission, activities, and success stories.
c. Provides stewardship material for all donors in portfolio.
2. Raises funds with limited guidance of director to help reach the Corporate and Tribal Development team’s annual fundraising goal.
a. Raises funds from current donors.
b. Raises funds from lapsed donors with a goal of re-engaging lapsed donors in personal portfolio.
c. Raises funds from new donors that meet or exceed personal revenue goal.
3. Creates mechanisms to communicate with donor base in portfolio.
a. Develops fundraising strategic plans to track success of fundraising or to modify direction.
b. Ensures accuracy in disbursement of funds.
c. Reports back to donors results of scholarship programs.
4. Contributes to the enhancement of fundraising strategy for the team and the Fund
a. Analyzes current giving trends and develops fresh ways to efficiently raise funds
b. Takes leadership role in sharing expertise to staff
