JOB DESCRIPTION

General Description:

Cedar Band Enterprises, LLC (CBE) is seeking a senior-level Business Development (BD) Director, who will be an integral member of our BD team. As the BD Director, you will be primarily responsible for day-to-day management of the CBE BD processes in order achieve CBE’s business growth goals. Your duties will include identifying internal customer requirements and developing timely, comprehensive information gathering, tracking and reporting policies and procedures; supporting tools; and performance measures. You will promote and coordinate organic revenue growth for CBE and its operating companies. In addition, you will task and assist the BD team (with multiple direct reports) based on guidance from the COO. You will also work closely with the COO to develop, implement, track, report, and measure the performance of both short-term and long-term BD strategies, plans and annual BD budgets for CBE and its operating companies. You will interact extensively via both electronic means and in-person with the BD field staff, other CBE staff and operating companies, prospective teaming partners, BD information providers, and prospective customers to provide advice, assistance and direction and to both provide and obtain BD-related information. Requires good communication skills, interpersonal skills, customer service skills, a professional image, a willingness to travel, and the ability to work as a team player. Full-time, Monday-Friday. Position located in Cedar City, UT, telecommute option may be available.

Summary of essential job functions:

Under the general guidance and direction of the CBE COO:
• Plan, organize, and coordinate the activities of the Business Development programs for CBE and its operating companies under the direction of the COO.
• Remain cognizant of relevant industry best-practices and trends to ensure that CBE’s BD processes and procedures incorporate the most effective and efficient approaches.
• Develop strategies for developing leads within federal government agencies and commercial arena.
• Identify/collect, pre-screen, verify/validate, qualify and prepare one-time and recurring reports for potential contracting opportunities that match the capabilities and qualifications of CBE’s operating companies.
• Responsible for development, implementation, and evaluation of procedures related to prospecting, servicing, and managing customer accounts.
• Participate and provide input to senior management and support/assist BD staff to establish individual goals, to create budgets for BD and to plan and conduct marketing in cooperation with the COO.
• Institute and continue training programs for BD operations and support staff and help establish individual goals.
• Coordinate strategic business development projects with the COO to achieve effective business cohesiveness.
• Manage and coordinate the CBE Bid/No-bid decision process.
• Organize, manage and participate personally in CBE capture and proposal activities.
• Report weekly/daily to the COO about business activities, potential threats, opportunities, and recommended actions.
• Prepare BD pipeline status reports for the COO to present at the weekly CBE Leadership Team meetings and monthly Board of Directors meetings. Prepare ad hoc/custom reports as directed by the COO.
• Monitor BD performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made and take corrective action if necessary in accordance with CBE guidelines and COO directions.
• Identify and capture new business within the federal government arena and commercial arena and identify leads, maintain and develop client relationships, develop white papers and proposals, and direct marketing and business development tasks.
• Research and prepare materials for distribution, including oversight and management of the CBE website.
• Create visual presentations, handle advertising and promotional work to support marketing efforts, maintain current and potential client contacts and respond to inquiries.
• Ensure proper CBE BD reports structure.
• Maintain appropriate communications within the area of responsibility.
• Manage program to enhance BD capabilities based upon guidance from the COO.
• Conduct regular meetings with BD team to ensure that priorities are clear and coordination and reporting is up to date.
Targets, Expectations and Deliverables During the Initial 90 days:

• Ability to administer private, for profit corporations including the understanding of the legal responsibilities and constraints of such a corporation, and coordinate these actions with the COO.
• Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state policies pertaining to SBA programs such as: 8(a), HUB Zone, SDB, CCR, Taxation, etc.
• Show experience in working within the federal and commercial arena.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with the Management Team.
• Manage the reporting of employees effectively.
• Present weekly/monthly reports on performance as requested by the COO.
• Support other CBE team members as required.

Minimum Requirements

• BS/BA in Business Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5-10 years of Federal government BD management experience with direct reports.
• Commercial and state/local government sales/BD experience is a plus
• Affiliation with successful companies.
• Preferred experience with sales software (i.e. sales force, etc.).
• Preferred Security Clearance, at a minimum, Secret
• Must be able to direct sales team to win new business and when needed to personally close sales opportunities.
• Government or military experience preferred.
• Significant professional management experience.
• Respect from both the management and operational staff to be effective.
• Ability to lead, plan and manage change.
• Strong people management skills and communication skills.
• Strong administrative skills.
• Strong presentation and persuasive skills.
• Proven ability to recruit, train, and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.
• Excellent understanding of government contracts and all legal aspects of contracts.
• Experience with successful proposal development, knowledge of professional services within the federal government market.
• Excellent understanding of commercial sales along with noted experience.
• Excellent writing skills to compose, edit, and review misc. legal documents.
• Knowledge of computer programs: Microsoft suite, Sales Management, etc.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities.
• Management type- advocate team concept.
• Must be detail oriented and have great organizational skills.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with diverse personalities. Tactful, mature.
• Ability to establish credibility and be decisive- but able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
• Must be able to prioritize projects, perform tasks in a time sensitive, hi-volume environment, take direction from many individuals and maintain confidentiality.
• Must have the ability to be a multi-tasking individual.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Must pass a drug screening.
• Must pass a successful background check.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
