This is a non-sworn position which involves patrolling the City of Williston to identify immediate public safety and health violations and responding to calls for service through the Williston Police Department. Summary: Patrols the city in a proactive manner to identify immediate public safety and health violations, responds to dispatched call for service from the Williston Police Department.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Responds to public inquiries or complaints on municipal code requirements and procedures.
2. Ascertains and gathers facts related to applicable ordinances, codes, laws, rules and regulations, and determines and institutes proper action to be taken.
3. Responds to and investigates complaints regarding violations of city ordinances, issues notices of violations stipulating necessary changes for ordinance compliance, takes appropriate action to insure compliance.
4. Prepares reports and recommendations on code enforcement matters, and gains voluntary compliance if possible.
5. Coordinates actions with other departments (Public Works, Building, Planning).
6. Prepares case information and presents evidence at public hearings and/or legal proceedings.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of office equipment. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, to learn city codes and ordinances and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.

Necessary Special Requirement: Valid North Dakota driver’s license.
