POSITION TITLE: CHIEF JUDGE
General description of the Chief Judge:
The direct primary responsibility of the Chief Judge shall include the administration of justice as provided by the Yankton Sioux Tribe’s Law and Order Code. The Chief Judge shall be responsible for the supervision of the Yankton Sioux Tribal Court and its employees, including case management.
Minimum Desired Qualifications:
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school;
• A member in good standing of any State Bar;
• Three (3) years of experience as a judge.
• Well-versed in concepts of Indian law and sovereignty.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• No felony convictions.
