SCOPE OF POSITION:
Provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answer questions or resolve
computer problems for employees in person, via telephone or from remote location.
Troubleshoot all computer related issues, including software, hardware, and networking.
lnstall and update desktops, laptops, PDAs, peripherals, networks, and related
software. Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software,
including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail and operating systems.
The Computer Support Specialist I will work under the direct supervision of the
I nformation Technology Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to
resolve problems.
2. Enter commands and observe system functioning to verify correct operations and
detect errors.
3. lnstall and perform repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment,
following design or installation specifications.
4. Oversee the daily performance of computer systems.
5. Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of
cables, operating systems or appropriate software, including phone system.
6. Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and
remedial action taken or installation activities.
7. Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to
investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
8. Confer with staff, users and management to establish requirements for new
systems or modifications.
9. Develop training materials and procedures or train users in the proper use of
hardware or software.
1O.Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or
technicians for services.
11. lnstall/configure/repair network and local printers, including multifunction
copiers/fax/scanning devices.
12. Ability to work with minimal supervision
l3.Responsible for maintenance and updating of the SRST Administration website
and any additional program websites.
l4.Provide website training and/or technical assistance and support to all
employees.

l S.Knowledge of web design and layout skills, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite,
CSS, HTML, must be able to function in a team environment, manage multiple
tasks and be goal orientated.
16. Assist in the day to day operations of the SRST lnformation Systems including
support of employee desktop computers, application software, peripheral
equipment, phone system, voice mail system and assisting and instructing
employee use of the SRST's technologies.
17. Responsible for setup, upgrading and implementation of new and existing
hardware and software systems on computer desktop PC and connectivity to the
company's network system. Current operating systems include Windows XP Pro,
Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Current application software includes but not
limited to Microsoft Office Suite 200312007 including Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Access, Publisher, internal and
external e-mail applications including Microsoft Outlook 200312007, Outlook Web
Access, and user lnternet access.
18. May be required to work evenings or after hours to provide timely support to
users.
19. Must be able to travel throughout reservation to provide technical support to
employees/users, when necessary.
20. Must have patience and be able to work under stressful conditions and/or
environment.
21. May be required to attend technical conferences and seminars to keep
abreast of new technology developments.
22. Other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Computer Support Specialist I - One year college, technical or vocational school in
computer related field with at least (3) years demonstrated work experience in computer
systems.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Must be able to travel as necessary. Must possess a valid driver's license and
insurance. Must pass a tribal and public trust position background check.
